Police Foil Organ Harvesting Plot, Rescue 19-Year-Old Victim In Imo

The operatives noticed the suspects forcefully attempting to take the young lady to an undisclosed location, where they allegedly planned to kill her and harvest her organs.

Owerri, Imo State-  Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have foiled an organ harvesting plot, and arrested a suspected kidnapper in the Douglas area of the state.

The suspect, 38-year-old Justine Emmanuel, from Amimo in Ikeduru Local Government Area, was apprehended during a swift rescue operation.

It was gathered that the operation led to the rescue of a 19-year-old woman, whose identity has been withheld.

According to a statement released on Saturday by the Imo State Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, the arrest followed the quick response of officers on patrol who noticed suspicious activity involving a blue and white bus.

Okoye added that the operatives noticed the suspects forcefully attempting to take the young lady to an undisclosed location, where they allegedly planned to kill her and harvest her organs.

“During the chase, the victim courageously jumped from the moving bus and was rescued by our operatives.

“The police gave chase, prompting the suspects to abandon the vehicle. While one suspect was arrested, others fled into the nearby bush,” Okoye said.

The command has launched further investigations to track down the remaining members of the syndicate and uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.

Okoye reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling violent crime and ensuring the community’s safety.

He, however, urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the authorities.
