Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Slitting Friend’s Throat In Kogi

Lokoja, Kogi State — The Kogi State Police Command has arrested Abdulmuqeet Musari for allegedly slitting the throat of Usman Tijani, a 200-level undergraduate of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.

The incident reportedly occurred after Musari lured Tijani into a bush, where he allegedly collected N200,000 from the victim before committing the heinous act.

Confirming the arrest, the command’s spokesperson, SP Williams Aya, said the suspect is in police custody while investigations are ongoing.

“The suspect has been in our custody, and investigation is ongoing. He will be arraigned on completion of the investigation,” Aya stated in a statement in Lokoja on Thursday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that an attack occurred on December 23 near the Adavi Burial Ground in New Zango, Adavi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State.

The Chairman of Adavi LGA, Bashiru Okatenwu, disclosed the details in a statement issued by his media aide, Suleiman Acheneje.

According to the statement, the victim, Usman Tijani, a 200-level Cyber Security student at CUSTECH, was brutally assaulted around 8:00 p.m.

“On December 23, between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m., a tragic incident occurred near the Adavi Burial Ground.

Usman Tijani was attacked and severely injured by Abdulmuqeet Musari, who clearly intended to kill him,” the statement read.

Tijani was discovered critically injured at 2:00 a.m. in New Zango and was rushed to Lokoja, where he is receiving medical treatment.

The chairman confirmed that the suspect had fled but was later apprehended in Ekiti through the efforts of local security personnel and the support of the state government.

He reassured residents of his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

A relative of the victim, Zainab Avosuahu, shared further details in a Facebook post.

She alleged that the suspect lured Tijani into the bush, stole N200,000 from him, and then slit his throat.

“The 19-year-old victim, who runs a POS business, is currently undergoing surgery at a hospital in Lokoja,” she wrote.

“This is a call for justice for my nephew, whom his so-called friend dragged to the bush, stole N200,000 from, and still attempted to kill.”
