Plateau Speaker Loses Seat To PDP’s Female Candidate
Akawu scored 9,926 votes in Saturday’s States Houses of Assembly election to defeat Sanda
The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Yakson Sanda, has lost his reelection bid to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just-concluded Governorship and State Assembly elections held on Saturday.
Sanda, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was defeated by Mrs Happiness Akawu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s elections for the Pengana State Constituency seat.
Akawu scored 9,926 votes in Saturday’s States Houses of Assembly election to defeat Sanda of the All Progressives Congress candidate (APC), who polled 7,936 votes.
Hon. Faisal Haruna of PRP scored 6,721 votes while Hon. Dankama of Labour Party scored 1,028 votes.
The INEC Returning Officer thereby declared Akawu as the winner of the election having scored the highest number of votes.
