Ogun Police Launch Probe Into Death Of 22-Year-Old ‘Destiny Boy’, One Suspect Arrested

One suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing

Abeokuta, Ogun State– The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the death of a 22-year-old man, Adesina Afeez, popularly known as Destiny Boy, following circumstances surrounding his demise.

The development was disclosed in a statement released on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Oluseyi Babaseyi, who confirmed that the case is being treated as a homicide.

According to the police, preliminary investigations have since been concluded at the divisional level, prompting the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for a more detailed and comprehensive investigation.

DSP Babaseyi stated that the decision to move the case to the SCID was in line with standard police procedures for serious crimes, particularly cases involving loss of life, to ensure a thorough and professional handling of the matter.

“One suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing,” the statement read.

The police spokesperson added that detectives attached to the Homicide Section are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the young man, identify all those involved, and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.

The Ogun State Police Command assured members of the public that it is committed to conducting a diligent and transparent investigation, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing useful information that could aid the probe.

The Command also reiterated its resolve to uphold the rule of law and ensure that justice is served in the case, while further updates would be communicated as investigations progress.

The death of Adesina Afeez, known by many as Destiny Boy, has reportedly generated concern among residents, with calls for a thorough investigation and accountability from the authorities.
