Ogbomoso Muslim Community Denies Seeking Removal Of Grand Chief Imam Dr. Teliat, Warns Against ‘False, Disruptive’ Claims

Ibadan, Oyo State – The Ogbomosoland Muslim Community has dismissed reports suggesting it has petitioned for the removal of the Grand Chief Imam, describing such claims as “false, misleading, and aimed at disrupting the peace” of the ancient town.
The Muslim community emphasised that Sheikh Ayilara II remains duly recognised as the Grand Chief Imam, having been nominated by his family and blessed by the late Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Dr. Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.
The statement, signed by Alhaji Chief Akintoye A., Chairman, and Alao Bashiru Olatunji, Secretary of the Ogbomosoland Muslim Community, also clarified that no complaint has ever been lodged against Sheikh Ayilara II seeking his removal.
The community further urged the public to disregard any contrary statements, describing such pronouncements as false and potentially disruptive to communal harmony.
It appealed to both Muslims and non-Muslims to remain calm while the matter is addressed in court.
The statement read, “The Ogbomosoland Muslim Community firmly affirms Sheikh Dr. Teliat Yunus Olushina Ayilara II as the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, having been duly nominated by his family (Ayilara) to the Ogbomosoland Muslim Community and blessed by the Late Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Dr. Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III (may Allah have mercy on him).
“The Ogbomosoland Muslim Community states clearly that it has never submitted any complaint-whether to an individual or a group-requesting the removal of the Grand Chief Imam for any reason whatsoever.
“The Ogbomosoland Muslim Community urges the public to disregard any pronouncements or statements contrary to the official position of the Muslim Community, as such statements are false and aimed at causing disruption within the community.
“The Ogbomosoland Muslim Community appeals to all well-wishers, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, to remain calm and peaceful, as the matter is currently before the court for proper judgment.
“The Ogbomosoland Muslim Community prays for sincerity of heart, wisdom, and rightful actions in resolving all affairs concerning the peace and progress of Ogbomosoland,” the The Ogbomosoland Muslim Community added.
