Notorious Thug Kills Imam Who Stops Him And Gang From Smoking Indian Hemp Near Mosque
Yusuf Haruna attacked and stabbed one Mallam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu, aged 45 years
Kano State– Operatives of the Kano Police Command have arrested Yusuf Haruna, widely known as “Lagwatsani,” an 18-year-old notorious thug for the murder of a respected local Imam, Mallam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa Haruna, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, said Haruna, of Dala Local Government Area of the state, stabbed the cleric to death with a knife after the deceased tried to stop him and his gang from smoking Indian hemp around the Mosque premises.
“On 31/12/2023 at about 1930hrs, report was received from one Musa Yunusa, ‘m’ of Jakara Quarters Kano that on the same date at about 1900hrs, the said Yusuf Haruna attacked and stabbed one Mallam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu, aged 45 years, ‘m’ of same address with a sharp knife at his back while performing ablution, simply because the victim warned him and his gang to stop smoking Indian hemp around the Mosque premises,” the statement read.
“As a result, the victim sustained deep injury and was rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor.
“The incident shook the community, and our officers have worked tirelessly to identify and capture the assailant. This arrest is a testament to our unwavering commitment to protecting the sanctity of life and bringing justice to those affected by such heinous acts.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, assured the public of the Command’s commitment to conducting thorough investigations in the case.
“In addition, we will work diligently to compile solid evidence to ensure the successful prosecution of the arrested individuals,”
