Abuja, Nigeria- The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has withdrawn his earlier plan to call witnesses in his ongoing trial for alleged terrorism offences.

At the resumed hearing before Justice James Omotosho, Kanu told the court that after reviewing his case file, he found no valid charge against him, insisting that his continued trial was unlawful.

The court had earlier, on October 24, adjourned the case to October 27 to allow Kanu to open his defence.

He maintained that since there was no valid charge or credible evidence against him, there was no need to open a defence.

The judge also advised him to consult criminal law experts to fully understand the legal implications of his decision.
