Kwara Central Senatorial candidate for the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mallam Saliu Mustapha has saluted  Nigerians on the 62nd anniversary of independence day calls for peace and unity.

In his goodwill message to mark Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Anniversary, the Turaki of Ilorin said October 1st is a time to remember the brave men and women who fought for our freedom, and a moment to reflect on and learn from historical events that inspired and shaped the path of our beloved country.

According to him, building a nation is a steep learning curve, but if we accept our mistakes and view unintended consequences as the seeds of our greatness, the journey will be far more significant than the destination.

“The general election of 2023 is fast approaching. As patriotic citizens, we must refrain from making remarks and engaging in actions that could polarise our people along religious and ethnic lines. For peace, unity, and progress to prevail, we must continue to cultivate the virtues of tolerance, empathy, and love.”
