Nigeria Submits Extradition Requirements For Simon Ekpa To Finnish Government – Christopher Musa

Abuja, Nigeria- The Nigerian government has formally submitted the necessary documents to Finland for the extradition of Simon Ekpa, a pro-Biafran activist, according to General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff.

In an interview on Channels Television’s 2024 Year-In-Review program on December 31, General Musa confirmed that all legal and procedural requirements have been sent to Finnish authorities for review.

“We’ve provided most of the required documentation to the Finnish Government, and I’m confident the right steps will follow,” Musa stated. Referring to Ekpa’s recent arrest, he added, “I’m sure he’s cooling off somewhere. Legal action will be taken accordingly.”

Ekpa, known for his online agitation supporting the secession of southeastern Nigeria, was arrested in Finland in November 2024 along with four others.

The Lahti District Court ordered his detention on charges of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent, linked to activities in Nigeria.

The Nigerian government has accused Ekpa of using social media platforms to incite violence and promote separatist propaganda associated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
