Kwara Monarch’s Son Freed After ₦20 Million Ransom, Father, Others Still Held Captive
Despite the relief of Olaolu’s release, Oba Simeon Olanipekun and several other residents abducted alongside him remain in the hands of the kidnappers.
Ilorin, Kwara State – The son of the Oniwo of Afin, Oba Simeon Olanipekun, has been released after being held hostage by kidnappers in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The victim, Olaolu Olanipekun, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), regained his freedom on Monday following the payment of a ₦20 million ransom to his captors.
Afrika Eyes gathered that Olaolu was dropped by his abductors at a herders’ settlement around Oreke in Ifelodun before being taken to a nearby military base, where his family was contacted.
He is currently receiving both medical and psychological care for the injuries and trauma he sustained during his captivity.

Reports indicate that the criminals are now demanding an additional ₦15 million for the release of the monarch and the other captives.
