Kwara Assembly Poll: Solomon Alabi Rejects Poll’s Results For Isin, Heads To Court

The House of Assembly  candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Isin constituency, Ambassador Solomon Rotimi Alabi, has rejected the outcome of the polls as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, declared  Alhaji Rasaq Omotosho of the All Progressives Congress winner.

Alabi, in a statement through his mandate office which was made available to newsmen , on Tuesday , described the hasty declaration by INEC without first addressing the weighty observations raised by PDP collation agent as gross violation of the fundamental principles of transparency which in turn put the credibility of the entire process in serious integrity question .

He also alleged gross malpractices, results inflation and alterations, ballot box stuffing in some areas and massive intimidation of PDP members by agents of the state who were greatly assisted by the INEC officials to assist the APC into unceremonious victory, which he claimed did not reflect the minds of the people of isin . Amb Solomon Alabi therefore vow to challenge the process in the constituted state election petition tribunal.

The statement partly reads:

“After thorough study of the elections outcome of Isin state constituency , the results and the processes that preceded the controversial declaration by INEC including the manner in which declaration was made , we came to a conclusion that the the whole excercise did not conform to the fundamental principle of fair and credible electons .”

“The inability of INEC collation officials to present a balance voting figures at the collation centre which was vehemently challenged by our collation agents and manner in which our agent’s voices were surpressed and the winner forcefully and hastily declared have raised suspicion and put the integrity of the whole excercise in grave question .”

“We wish to state unequivocally that INEC decision to declare Isin Constituency as well as governorship elections results in Ilorin, having been unable to do same at the Local government collation centre situated in Owu-isin is a testament that INEC agents have willfully compromised the process to favour the APC and its candidates ”

“That , we are also not unaware of widespread malpractices and open inducement of voters with electronic transfer of cash by agents of the ruling APC before and during the voting excercises in order to induce voters in favour of APCs candidates. Our agents at the polling booths also reported several instances of ballot stuffing , intimidation and harassment of polling unit agents by those who abrogated undue power to themselves”

“All these and many other anomalies which are rapes on our growing democracy will not be allowed to fester as we are ready to challenge and reclaim the people’s mandate in court of competent jurisdiction.”

“While urging our supporters to remain calm and law abiding, we appreciate the huge turnout during the elections and the confidence reposed in Ambassador Solomon Rotimi Alabi which was upturned by inec lack of sincerity but we assure you all that Justice delayed is not denial” – the statement added
