June 12: Yahaya Seriki Hails OTOGE Gains, Urges Continued Support For APC Ahead Of 2027
“June 12 reminds us that Nigerians can rise above religious and ethnic sentiments for the greater good,” he said.
Ilorin, Kwara State – As Nigeria marks Democracy Day on June 12, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki-Gambari, MFR, has commended the OTOGE political revolution in Kwara State, describing it as a historic turning point in dismantling decades of political impunity and misrule.
In a statement released on Thursday to commemorate the 2025 Democracy Day, Seriki reflected on the significance of June 12 in Nigeria’s democratic journey, describing it as a day when Nigerians chose unity over division by electing late Chief MKO Abiola in what remains one of the fairest elections in the nation’s history.
“June 12 reminds us that Nigerians can rise above religious and ethnic sentiments for the greater good,” he said.
Seriki highlighted how the 2019 OTOGE movement — a grassroots-driven political uprising that swept the APC into power in Kwara — ended godfatherism and ushered in a new era of responsible governance.
According to him, the movement, meaning “Enough is Enough,” has since transformed the political landscape of the state.
He lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his humility, visionary leadership, and efforts in improving the lives of Kwarans through infrastructural development, workers’ welfare, and prudent financial management.
“In the last six years, Kwarans have witnessed a clear difference,” Seriki noted. “Governor AbdulRazaq has fulfilled his promises and brought governance closer to the people. The era of high-handedness and waste is over.”
The APC chieftain also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his second year in office, crediting him with stabilising the economy through increased sub-national allocations, a drop in food prices, and a renewed push for local manufacturing under the “Nigeria First Policy.”
Seriki called on citizens to sustain their support for both the AbdulRazaq-led state government and the Tinubu administration, emphasizing that the APC remains the most people-oriented political party in Nigeria.
