Informamt247 To Unveil First-Ever Documentary On Ilorin Indigenes’ Exploit In Law Profession
This documentary will serve as a tribute to the hard work and dedication of great individuals
The first-ever documentary on the exploits of Ilorin indigenes in the legal profession is set to premiere Friday, January 20th, 2023.
The project is initiated by The Informant247, an independent online newspaper headquartered in Ilorin, Nigeria.
Salihu Taofeek, Publisher of The Informant247 disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
He said, “As part of efforts to archive the history of our host community – Ilorin, we’ll premiere a documentary on the accomplishments of Ilorin indigenes and members of the NBA Ilorin Branch in the noble field of law. This documentary will serve as a tribute to the hard work and dedication of great individuals in the profession, and highlight the important contributions they have made.
He said the documentary – which features several prominent lawyers including seven Senior Advocate of Nigeria – tells the stories and impacts of the first lawyer from the whole of northern Nigeria, Late AGF Abdulrazaq; the first northerner to sit on the Federal bench in 1973, Late Justice Mahmud Belgore and the Pioneer Chief Judge of Kwara State, Late Honourable Justice Saidu Kawu.
Others include the pioneer Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, (ICPC) Late Justice Mustapha Akanbi; the 8th Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Alfa Modibo Belgore and the first indigene of Ilorin to hold a Masters degree in Law who is also the current Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari CFR.
They are all to receive Lifetime Achievement Awards, according to Taofeek.
He added that the premiere scheduled for 4 pm at the Maryam Hall, Monarch Hotel in Ilorin will be part of an ‘ominibus programme’ to celebrate the achievements of the news organization in the past six years.
“In addition to the documentary premiere, we will also be celebrating the achievements of our news organization in the past six years and discussing salient issues around the 2023 election, with a particular emphasis on the issues of electoral violence and vote buying. We believe that it is crucial for the media to play a role in shedding light on these issues.
“We will also be recognizing and rewarding distinguished members of the society, journalists, business owners, cooperate organizations, public and civil servants who have excelled in their respective fields with merit awards. These awards will serve as a testament to the outstanding contributions that these individuals have made,” he disclosed.
