Husband Stabs Wife To Death In Ogun Over Violent Dispute, Flees Scene

The suspect allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times in the neck and chest with a knife.

Abeokuta, Ogun State – A man identified as Oju has allegedly stabbed his wife, Josephine Isaac, multiple times, leading to her death during a violent dispute in their home in Agbure community, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, said in a statement on Thursday that the event was reported at the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters at about 9:30 a.m. by Blessing Isaac, the younger sister of the deceased.

According to Odutola, the altercation between Josephine and her husband, Oju, escalated into physical violence around 1:00 a.m.

The suspect allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times in the neck and chest with a knife.

“Upon realising the severity of her injuries and seeing her bleeding profusely, the suspect fled the scene, abandoning her,” Odutola said.

The victim was rushed to Ibiade General Hospital but succumbed to her injuries, as confirmed by medical personnel.

Following the report, detectives from Abigi Division visited the crime scene and recovered potential evidence.

However, the body of the 36-year-old deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for an autopsy.

Odutola assured the public that investigations are ongoing to ensure the suspect is brought to justice.

She urged residents to embrace peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms rather than resorting to violence and encouraged them to report any suspected case of domestic abuse to the police.
