Housewife Allegedly Murders 4-Day-Old Stepson In Bauchi
The suspect entered the co-wife’s room with insecticide liquid (Gramalin) and applied it to the unhealed baby’s umbilical cord.
A 24-year-old housewife, Furera Abubakar, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command. for allegedly killing her own four-day-old stepson.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in Bantu village, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Addressing newsmen, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed that the arrested suspect, Furera Abubakar, held the role of a co-wife in relation to the infant’s mother – the nursing mother of the tragic victim.
“The suspect entered the co-wife’s room with insecticide liquid (Gramalin) and applied it to the unhealed baby’s umbilical cord. The liquid suspected to be corrosively affected, led to the deterioration of the baby’s health and eventually led to his death.
He explained that the incident was reported to the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters on August 19, 2023, four days after the baby was born.
He added that the investigation was ongoing, after which the suspect would be charged.
