Gunmen Invade Abuja Community, Abduct Chief, 13 Others
An 18-year-old boy, identified as Solomon, was shot in the leg by the kidnappers
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the chief of Chida community in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, John Kwayidami, and 13 of his subjects.
It was gathered that an 18-year-old boy, identified as Solomon, was shot in the leg by the kidnappers while attempting to escape.
A resident of Chida, Ishaya Musa, said the incident happened around 11:34 pm last Thursday, when the kidnappers, wielding AK-47 rifles, invaded the community.
He said the kidnappers went to the chief’s palace and whisked him away before abducting 13 other people from their homes.
“Unfortunately, a young boy who, out of fear, as a result of the sporadic gunshots, tried to escape was shot in the leg by the kidnappers, and he is currently at the hospital receiving treatment,” he said.
According to him, some victims were asleep outside their compounds due to excessive heat when the kidnappers invaded and surrounded the community.
Mr Musa said contact was established on Saturday evening when the leader of the kidnappers called the families of the victims.
