Gunmen Abduct Traditional Ruler In Nasarawa During Overnight Palace Attack
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen arrived heavily armed, breaking into the palace
Lafia, Nasarawa State – Fear gripped residents of Dari community in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State following the abduction of their traditional ruler, Chief Emmanuel Omanji, by unidentified gunmen suspected to be bandits.
The incident occurred during a late-night raid on Wednesday, when the attackers stormed the palace of the Sangarin Dari, firing sporadically to scare off residents before seizing the monarch and whisking him away to an unknown location.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen arrived heavily armed, breaking into the palace without warning and creating panic throughout the community.
Confirming the abduction, the spokesperson of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Superintendent Ranham Nansel, said the Commissioner of Police, Shettima Jauro Mohammed, had swiftly mobilized security operatives, including the police, military, and local vigilante groups, to mount a search-and-rescue operation.
“The CP has assured that the royal father will be rescued,” Nansel stated.
