Gunmen Abduct 12-Year-Old Girl In Kwara, Police Launch Search Operation

According to reports, four armed men stormed the camp in the early hours of Wednesday and forcefully took the young girl, who is the daughter of Mr. Abdullahi Jowuro, under the cover of darkness.

Ilorin,  Kwara State– Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted a 12-year-old girl, Hassana Abdullahi, from Aiyetoro Fulani Camp in Kwara State.

According to reports, four armed men stormed the camp in the early hours of Wednesday and forcefully took the young girl, who is the daughter of Mr. Abdullahi Jowuro, under the cover of darkness.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara State, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident in a statement and disclosed that security forces have been mobilized to rescue the victim.

“At about 0300hrs, four armed men invaded Aiyetoro Fulani Camp and abducted 12-year-old Hassana Abdullahi; daughter to Mr Abdullahi Jowuro. The scene of the crime was secured and documented,” the statement read.

Ejire-Adeyemi added that a joint tactical team comprising police operatives, vigilantes, and local hunters has been deployed to comb the surrounding bush and carry out rescue operations.

“The Command remains committed to public safety and urges residents to remain alert and report suspicious activity promptly,” she said.

Earlier, Afrika Eyes reported that gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly killed a prominent businessman and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Kpotun, along with his son, during an attempted abduction in Lile village, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Sources told Afrika Eyes on Wednesday that the attack occurred late Tuesday night when the armed assailants stormed Kpotun’s residence and opened fire while trying to kidnap him and his son.

“Not only his family was attacked last night, the bandits also raided another household and killed another person,” a local resident revealed under the condition of anonymity due to security concerns.

The source told Afrika Eyes that the coordinated attack has thrown the community into mourning, with residents calling for urgent government and security intervention to curb the increasing wave of insecurity in the region.

The incident marks another violent episode in the rising insecurity that has plagued parts of Kwara North in recent months.

Recalled Afrika Eyes reported that gunmen suspected to be bandits reportedly carried out coordinated attacks on Patigi and Ndanaku communities in Kwara North Senatorial District, killing two people, including a prominent pharmacist.

On June 3, 2025, the attacks occurred late Monday night, shortly after Muslim faithful had concluded the Ishai (night) prayers.

One of the victims was identified as the Chief Executive Officer of Biskad Pharmacy in Patigi. She was allegedly shot and killed during an attempted abduction by the assailants.
