DSS Arrests Officials For Diverting FG’s Palliatives
The Service undertook investigations in that regard and has recovered some of the items as well as apprehended the suspects
The Department of State Services (DSS) has disclosed the apprehension of several officials responsible for diverting relief assistance intended for “vulnerable” citizens in Nasarawa state, aimed at mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
Among those arrested at a prominent market in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, were officials who held positions within the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) and their associates. They were apprehended while attempting to sell the diverted items.
The spokesperson for the secret police, Peter Afunanya, has issued a call to the general public, to report any information related to this growing trend to the appropriate security authorities. He emphasized that those responsible for these actions will face legal consequences in accordance with the law.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) has received reports from some State Governments relating to the diversion or sale of palliatives meant for their citizens.
“Consequently, the Service undertook investigations in that regard and has recovered some of the items as well as apprehended the suspects.”
