Court Orders Lady To Pay N150,000 For Failing To Visit Boyfriend After Receiving N3,000 Transport Fare

It was gathered that Ms Adu had agreed to visit Mr Olapitan but disappeared after he sent her the transport fare.

Osogbo, Osun State- A Magistrate Court in Ilesa, Osun State, has ordered Rhoda Adu to pay N150,000 in damages for failing to honor an agreement with her boyfriend, Olapitan Sola, after receiving N3,000 for transportation to visit him.

It was gathered that Ms Adu had agreed to visit Mr Olapitan but disappeared after he sent her the transport fare.

However, she allegedly switched off her phone and failed to show up, causing Mr Olapitan considerable emotional distress.

When he was unable to reach her, Mr Olapitan reported the incident to the Ayeso Police Station, claiming he had been defrauded.

The police investigation uncovered evidence, including a N3,000 transfer and WhatsApp messages exchanged between the two parties.

Magistrate Akogun Oludare, presiding over the case, ruled that Ms Adu must refund the N3,000 transport fare, pay N100,000 for breaching the agreement, and an additional N50,000 as special damages for the emotional distress caused to Mr Olapitan.

The court also stated that the ruling serves as a deterrent to others who might engage in similar behavior.
