Couple Arrested For Stealing Neighbor’s 2-Year-Old Child

I know the child and I know the parents, they are my neighbors.

A man and his wife have been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly abducting their neighbor’s 2-year-old child.

According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the father of the victim, Adamu Abdullahi, from Orange Market Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area, filed a complaint with the police on August 13 around 3:30 p.m. The complaint stated that his two-year-old son had been missing for nearly two weeks.

Abdullahi also informed the police that on the same day, he had received a phone call from an unidentified individual demanding a ransom of N2 million.

Police detectives were swiftly dispatched to search for the missing child, and their diligent efforts resulted in the apprehension of the main suspect and three accomplices.

Upon interrogation, the prime suspect who is Abdullahi’s neighbour confessed to have conspired with the other suspects, all of Orange market, to steal the child. The suspect also revealed to the detectives that he handed the child over to his wife, who took him to Katsina State.

The police trailed the wife to Katsina state, arrested her and recovered the child, who was reunited with his parents. The prime suspect, Abubakar Saidu who spoke to newsmen said;

“I have no reason for keeping the child because the parents are my neighbours. I regretted my action for stealing the child.’’

His wife, Salamatu Abubakar also said;

“I know the child and I know the parents, they are my neighbors. I am ashamed of myself for taken part in the abduction of the child. My husband handed over the child to me and I took him to Kastina State for safe keeping pending when they pay the N2million. I gave birth to children, but all of them are dead.”
