BREAKING: Senate Forms 37-Member Committee To Review 1999 Constitution

Abuja, Nigeria– Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday announced the formation of a 37-member committee tasked with reviewing the 1999 constitution.

The committee, to be chaired by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, comprises representatives from each geopolitical zone and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The mandate of the committee encompasses a comprehensive examination of various aspects of the constitution, with a particular focus on critical issues such as state police and artificial intelligence regulations.

It is Scheduled to be inaugurated next week Tuesday, the committee’s formation heralds a new phase in the ongoing efforts to reform Nigeria’s legal framework.
