Ilorin, Kwara State– Residents of Igbo Ofe Ora, a community near Oke-Ode in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, were thrown into panic after terrorists — whom villagers suspect to be Fulani herdsmen — invaded the area, abducted a housewife identified as Rukayat, and shot her husband’s brother, Abdulateef, in a broad-daylight attack.

The source who spoke to Afrika Eyes on Tuesday evening recounted the terrifying moments.
“The woman who was kidnapped is my father’s junior brother’s wife. It happened yesterday,” the source said.
“One of my senior brothers, who stays with my dad, was also attacked. He wasn’t killed, but he was seriously injured and is now in the hospital.”

According to the source, the armed men swept into the village as his brother was returning on a motorcycle.
“That was when they started shooting. Everybody scattered, and they took my father’s junior brother’s wife away,” he added.
The source explained that Abdulateef sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed out of the village for treatment.
The source told Afrika Eyes that the attackers reportedly contacted the family shortly after the incident and demanded a ₦100 million ransom for Rukayat’s release.
The family source also lamented the difficulty in securing medical care for the wounded.
“We took my brother to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital yesterday, but the doctors were on strike. Since the government hospital staff were unavailable, we had to move him to a private hospital,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had not issued an official statement on the attack, and the victim remains in captivity, leaving residents in fear of further assaults.
