BREAKING: Governor Adeleke Dumps PDP, Joins Accord Party
Adeleke’s defection was confirmed through a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area.
Osogbo, Osun State– Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pitched his tent with the Accord Party, ending weeks of intense speculation and internal tension within the opposition party.
Adeleke’s defection was confirmed through a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area.
The governor formally withdrew his membership on November 4, 2025, citing the escalating breakdown of order within the PDP’s national leadership.
““Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect,” Adeleke wrote.
The development marks a dramatic shift for a politician whose rise to national visibility was built firmly on the PDP platform.
Adeleke acknowledged this in his letter, expressing gratitude for the party’s support throughout his political journey.
“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party,” he stated.
