BREAKING: Federal High Court Sentences IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu To Life Imprisonment
Abuja, Nigeria — Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to life imprisonment.
Justice Omotosho found that Kanu had used IPOB to orchestrate “terrorist acts,” including the declaration and enforcement of periodic “sit-at-home” orders across Nigeria’s Southeast.
The court held that these orders, backed by threats and violence, were not a legitimate exercise of self-determination, but rather amounted to criminal conduct under the Terrorism Prevention Act, 2013.
The judge ordered that Kanu be kept in protective custody in any part of the country.
