Katsina DPO Killed In Deadly Bandit Ambush; Multiple Wounded, Cattle Rustled
The bandits reportedly made away with additional cattle and livestock following the ambush.
Katsina State – The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rimi Local Government Area, CSP Muhammad Sani Sagir, was killed on Friday morning in a brutal ambush by suspected bandits in Magaji community, Majen-Gobir ward.
Afrika Eyes gathered that CSP Sagir and his team were responding to a distress call around 10:00 a.m. regarding ongoing cattle rustling in the area.
Meanwhile, the operatives tracked the suspects into a nearby forest, hoping to recover the stolen livestock, but were met with heavy gunfire.
The DPO reportedly sustained critical injuries and later succumbed to them. Three other officers and a woman were also wounded in the attack.
The bandits reportedly made away with additional cattle and livestock following the ambush.
Confirming the attack, a security alert issued by Bakatsine revealed that one suspected bandit was killed during the encounter, and some of the rustled animals were recovered.
However, the injured victims have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while a manhunt has been launched for the fleeing attackers.
