EFCC Re-Arrests Kano TikTok Influencer Murja Kunya For Alleged Naira Abuse
Kunya was apprehended at Tahir Guest Palace in Kano, where she was reportedly seen spraying Naira notes for fun.
Kano, Nigeria – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arrested popular TikTok influencer Murja Ibrahim Kunya for allegedly abusing and mutilating the Naira.
Kunya was apprehended at Tahir Guest Palace in Kano, where she was reportedly seen spraying Naira notes for fun.
The arrest follows her alleged breach of an administrative bail granted over a month ago after her initial detention in January 2025.
She had been taken into custody earlier for violating the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, which prohibits the abuse of the Naira.
However, she failed to appear in court as scheduled, prompting the EFCC to launch a manhunt.
Following weeks of surveillance, operatives successfully re-arrested her on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
She is now in custody at the Kano Zonal Directorate, awaiting arraignment before the Federal High Court in Kano.
The EFCC has reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of the Nigerian currency, warning against the spraying, stamping, or mutilation of the Naira at social events.
