Zamfara Bandits Reportedly Relocate To Kwara

The terrorist, apprehended by local vigilantes in Kyaram community, provided intelligence on the movements of the criminal group, which has been responsible for several attacks in Zamfara.

Ilorin, Kwara State – Terrorists suspected to be bandits operating in Bukuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State have reportedly relocated to Bani town in Kwara State following intensified military operations and vigilante offensives, a captured insurgent has revealed.

It was gathered that the terrorist, apprehended by local vigilantes in Kyaram community, provided intelligence on the movements of the criminal group, which has been responsible for several attacks in Zamfara.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama made this known on his X handle on Sunday, citing intelligence sources, stated that the crackdown has weakened the bandits’ operations, forcing them to flee.

However, he warned that the criminals still possess dangerous weapons and ammunition, posing a potential threat to their new location.

“The captured insurgent reportedly confessed during interrogation that many of their fighters had either been neutralized or forced to flee due to intensified pressure from local vigilantes and security forces.

“However, key leaders and remaining fighters had relocated to Bani town in Kwara State, leaving behind a weakened presence in Bukuyum,” he added.

Earlier, Afrika Eyes reported that suspected gunmen have reportedly shot and killed the leader of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kwara State, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina, in Ilorin.

It was gathered that the attack occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday in front of his residence in Oke Ose, Ilorin.

Daily Trust reports that the assailants ambushed him and shot him at close range before fleeing the scene, leaving him in a pool of blood.

Eyewitness, Aina’u Sarki said, “I was with him 20 minutes before he was killed. Someone called me on the phone and told me he had been shot dead.”

The Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Inter-Community Relations (Fulani), Muhammed Abdullahi, confirmed the incident on Sunday morning.

“Yes, he was killed in front of his residence on Saturday night by gunmen who left him for dead,” Abdullahi said. “We are preparing for his janaza as I speak, but the police were here yesterday and have begun an investigation.”

The deceased, 32, was a former Special Assistant to the Moro Local Government Chairman and a Youth Leader of the Fulani community in Kwara
