Man Arrested For Spreading Misleading Video Against Nigeria Police Force In Bauchi

The video was outdated and did not accurately represent any current or recent actions by the officers of the command.

Bauchi State– Men of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested one Adamu Suleiman for allegedly disseminating a video containing false and misleading information about the Nigeria Police Force.

It was gathered that the suspect was arrested for being involved in the spread of a misleading video clip across social media platforms.

This is contained in a statement released on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, said one person was heard claiming that police officers were the ones perpetrating armed robbery.

The statement read, “To address recent developments concerning a resurfacing of an old video clip showing a police vehicle parked by the roadside where an armed robbery incident took place.

“The incident occurred on February 18, 2020, along Kano-Maiduguri Road near Bam village in Dambam LGA. In the video clip, someone is heard claiming that the police officers parked the car were the ones perpetrating armed robbery.”

The PPRO said that the video was outdated and did not accurately represent any current or recent actions by the officers of the command.

He said that officers were responding to a distress call about an ongoing armed robbery.

“The command takes matters of public misinformation very seriously, particularly when they have the potential to incite fear, confusion, or unrest among the members of the public.”

He, however, urged citizens to be cautious about the information they share and to refrain from actions that may disrupt public order or threaten the safety of others.
