Court Remands 23-Year-Old Man For Hacking His Father To Death In Kwara

The magistrate granted the prosecutor’s prayer, as he ordered that the suspect be remanded.

Ilorin, Kwara State– A 23-year-old man identified as Saidi has been remanded for allegedly hacking his father, Chief Musa Elemosho, to death in Kwara State.

The deceased was the Elemosho of Shareland in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State until his death.

The suspect was dragged before Magistrate Muhammed Dasuki and charged with a one-count offence of culpable homicide.

According to the First Information Report, Saidi claimed “that his father was abusing him without any reason while in the sitting room. Saidi got annoyed as a result of his father’s unpleasant words and attacked him with cutlass on the head, hitting him several times till he died and he later escaped to a mountain in Share,”

The police prosecutor, Sgt Abdullah Sanni, informed the court that the matter was not bailable.

He urged the court to consider the motion ex parte attached to the FIR and order that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility.

The magistrate granted the prosecutor’s prayer, as he ordered that the suspect be remanded.

He then adjourned the matter to January 9, 2024.
