Kaduna State– Many feared dead as several people got injured after a bomb was allegedly dropped on villagers who were gathered to celebrate Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

The incident occurred on Sunday around 9 pm in Tudun Biri, a community within the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that a jet was responsible for dropping the bomb.

While the details of the incident are unclear, initial reports suggest that a minimum of 30 people lost their lives in the event.

A resident said, “They were celebrating Maulud (birth of Prophet Muhammad) when the jet dropped the bomb, resulting in the immediate death of more than 30 people.”

Concerns persist that the number of casualties could rise as those critically injured undergo medical treatment.

Samuel Aruwan, the overseeing Commissioner of the State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, refrained from disclosing casualty figures, stating that the government would address the media in a press conference at the Government House.

“We will address the press at Government House on the situation because there will be a security meeting later. So, let’s meet by 10 am,” he said.
