Wanted Thug ‘Hantar Daba’ Surrenders, Turns Himself To Police 

He was led with joy and happiness by his mother and some family members requesting to be part of the amnesty program

Kano State– A notorious thug, Hantar Daba, who had been declared wanted by the Kano State Police, has voluntarily surrendered himself to the command.

The development comes after the police had earlier declared Hantar Daba, along with two other notorious thugs, Abba Burakita and Nasiru Abdullahi, wanted and placed a N500,000 bounty on each of them.

Burakita and Chile Mai Daba have since surrendered themselves to the police alongside their followers.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, said Hanta Daba surrendered himself on Monday and requested to be part of the amnesty program of the Kano State Government.

“You recall that the top three viz: Hantar Daba of Kwanar Disu, Nasiru Abdullahi aka Chile Maidoki of Layin Polewire Kurna and Abba Burakita of Dorayi Karama Quarters, Kano are the influential youths been identified promoting thuggery (Fadan Yan Daba) of which the Police Command placed a bounty of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000:00) on each person’s head after being hesitant from responding to the Police invitation within the time frame,” the statement read.

“During the last hangout event held at Sani Abacha In-door Stadium, Kofar Mata on 17th October 2023 that ultimately changed their mindsets of which all of them with the last one; Hantar Daba now bringing himself in the company of his mother and his topmost former rival now bosom friend, Abba Burakita of Dorayi leading him to the Police Command.

“I’m sure you will also recall that Abba Burakita and Chile Maidoki had since reported and surrendered themself to the Command especially Abba Burakita who later brought his followers totalling forty (40) on the 26th of October, 2023.

“The good news is that the last person; Hantar Daba yesterday 27th of November, 2023 who has been on the run finally surrendered himself to the Police Command.

“He was led with joy and happiness by his mother and some family members requesting to be part of the amnesty program of the State Government. He further said that he is so sorry for his past ugly life and now ready to participate in the promotion of peace and sustainable development of the State.

“In furtherance, he admitted that he controls more than 100 followers from his camp whom he has strong influence on and will broker peace with them and bring them to totally change from the longtime supremacy fight (Fadan Yan Daba) regime between Hausawa, Gwale and Kofar Na’isa Thugs Groups.

“Meanwhile, Hantar Daba is currently under the custody of the Kano State Police Command undergoing security profiling, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc called on anyone with a complaint against Hantar Daba to report at the Office of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at Bompai Police Headquarters Kano or lodge the complaint through the following contact numbers; 0806 572 7389 or 07033093437.

“Finally, the Commissioner of Police while appreciating the friendship gesture by the good people of the State also thanked everyone for their prayers, understanding, continuous support, encouragement and cooperation.

“He further urged everyone to keep reporting any suspicious movement of which person(s) or item(s) they come across to the nearest Police Station or through the following Kano State Police Command emergency contact numbers:- 08032419754, 08123821575, 09029292926.”
