Nigerian Army, Vigilante Rescue Six, Dislodge Scores Of Bandits In Kebbi
The team dislodged a large number of bandits and rescued 6 kidnapped victims.
Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State -The Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups have rescued six kidnapped victims and dismantled the stronghold of scores of bandits in the dense Shanga forest of Kebbi State.
Malam Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser to Governor Idris, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Saturday, November 25, 2023, said the success recorded followed a proactive rescue operation effort launched by the combined security team in the Shanga forest receiving reports of the kidnapped victims.
“According to the Director of Security, Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi, Abdulrahman Usman, the six male rescued victims were all hale and hearty and have since been reunited with their families,” Sarki stated.
“Usman explained that troops of 1 Battalion Dukku Barracks Birnin Kebbi on clearance operation in conjunction with local Vigilante conducted a raid operation to Kogon Damisa Hill around Saminaka in Shanga Local Government Area, a border town between Kebbi and Niger State.
“During the operation, the team dislodged a large number of bandits and rescued 6 kidnapped victims.
“The victims have been reported kidnapped for some time now. Security operatives in the area comprising the army and the local vigilante were alerted and they swung into action inside the Shanga bush. Luckily the victims were rescued by the security,”
Usman commended the gallant efforts of the troops while also reiterating the unwavering commitment of Kauran Gwandu’s led administration toward supporting the security agencies in the state.
He said that apart from the continuous logistics support from the governor to security operatives, the state chief security officer has given marching orders to all security personnel to deal decisively with any threat to the lives and properties of people in the State.
