Governor AbdulRazaq Encourages Patriotism, Discipline In New Corps Members

Ilorin, Kwara State – Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has encouraged the newly sworn-in Youth Corps members to demonstrate patriotism and maintain a high standard of conduct during their three-week orientation exercise in the state.
AbdulRazaq, represented by the supervising Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, encouraged the corps members to embody the NYSC motto of ‘Service and Humility,’ which he identified as sterling qualities that would serve them well throughout their service year.
Speaking at the NYSC orientation camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government on Tuesday, the Governor emphasized the vital roles these young citizens play in nation-building and called on them to be fully prepared, both physically and mentally, for their civic duties.
“I want you to justify the confidence reposed in you as leaders of this great nation, by making patriotism, discipline, good conduct, honesty, and hard work your watchwords, throughout the course and thereafter.
“As you formally commence your one-year national service today, you will be fulfilled, in a special way, in the hopes and aspirations of our great country, which put a premium on the moral and physical development of the youths for a better and greater tomorrow,”
“I enjoin you to always present yourselves as worthy ambassadors of your various families and indeed the NYSC scheme, by exhibiting the sterling qualities of ‘Service and Humility’ as enshrined in the motto of the NYSC,” he added.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of corps members and to creating a peaceful and habitable environment for all residents of Kwara State.
The Oath of Allegiance was administered by Justice Sulaiman Mobolaji Akanbi, representing the Kwara State Chief Judge, and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Alhaji Abdulrasak Babatunde Alabere, commended the Governor’s dedication to improving the well-being of youth corps members. He assured them of fair posting and the government’s readiness to reward hard work and outstanding contributions.
The state Coordinator for NYSC, Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, praised the Governor for procuring 500 new mattresses for the orientation camp, promising increased comfort during their stay. He also encouraged corps members to comply with camp rules and behave in a disciplined and orderly manner.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by representatives from various government agencies, including the Comptroller of Immigration, Chief Superintendent Olumuyiwa Kabiru Aliyu, and the Director of State Services. A total of 2,200 corps members, comprising 1,150 females and 1,050 males, were officially inducted into the NYSC program.
