Abeokuta, Ogun State – The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a pastor of a white garment church in the Agbado area of the state on charges of allegedly making fake prophecies and the abduction of a 21-year-old woman.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, the victim, identified as Aliu Blessing, had visited the church to see her ailing sister when she was subjected to an unsettling encounter with the pastor.
The police revealed that the pastor allegedly informed Blessing that unless she consented to engage in sexual activities with him, a dire prophecy would materialize, resulting in her death on her wedding day.
The pastor was accused of claiming that any man who attempted to have sexual intercourse or a relationship with the lady would also face the same fate.
Following the prophecies, there are allegations that the prophet abducted the lady on February 2, 2023, and took her to an undisclosed location.
After more than seven months of a purported abduction, the victim’s uncle, Aliu Yusuf, reported to the police that the family was stunned when Blessing, who returned home on November 5, 2023, recounted her experience. She explained how Sunday had taken her to his family house in Ilaro and then to a hotel, where he was alleged to have engaged in multiple non-consensual sexual acts with her.
Speaking about the arrest of the suspect, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that the suspect had confessed to the crimes and would be prosecuted.
“The suspect has been arrested, and he has since confessed to the crimes during interrogation. He is currently in our custody and will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is completed.
“The victim, on the other hand, had been taken to the hospital for medical examination after showing a psychological problem, or probably a psychiatric problem,” Odutola disclosed on Tuesday.
