Kwara Court Remands Brothers For Alleged Uncle’s Murder In Family Dispute
The suspects confessed to the crime that they were not happy with their uncle for not allowing them to attack the father
Ilorin, Kwara State– Two brothers, Musa Idris and Aliyu Idris, were arraigned before an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court, facing charges of culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy from the alleged murder of their uncle, Muhammed Abubakar, in the Kaiama local government area of Kwara State.
The suspects, aged 25 and 20, have been accused of criminally conspiring to attack their 54-year-old uncle, Mohammed Abubakar, resulting in his tragic demise. The charges brought against them contravene Sections 97 and 221 of the penal code, which deal with such heinous acts.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), the ill-fated incident was allegedly triggered by a family dispute.
It was reported that the suspects had intentions of assaulting their own father over a minor disagreement, the situation had escalated to the point where their uncle, Muhammed Abubakar, intervened to mediate and prevent the escalating conflict.
In an unfortunate turn of events, it is alleged that the suspects, Musa and Aliyu, launched a brutal and fatal assault on their uncle where the assailants reportedly used machetes, leading to Muhammed Abubakar’s untimely death.
An investigator at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ilorin, stated, “Investigation conducted at SCID, Ilorin, revealed that the suspects wanted to attack their father over a little misunderstanding which led to the intervention of the uncle.”
The family’s patriarch, who was unaware of the brewing conflict, had taken his cattle for grazing and returned home later than expected. Upon his return, he was met with the shocking and gruesome sight of his own children having allegedly murdered his younger brother.
The investigator’s statement continued, “The suspects confessed to the crime that they were not happy with their uncle for not allowing them to attack the father, which made them kill him.”
