Daylight Robbery: Armed Robbers Dressed In Police Uniforms Escape With Millions In Kwara

Ilorin, Kwara State – In a brazen daylight robbery, a three-man gang of armed robbers, wielding AK-47 rifles, attacked an unidentified man and made away with millions of naira in Kwara State.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon on Lajorin Street, just opposite Excellence Citizens Bar, near the State High Court in Ilorin.

Eyewitnesses recounted the chilling events as the robbers, dressed in police uniforms, ambushed their victim, believed to be around 60 years old. The victim had reportedly been trailed to the location by the criminals.

One eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous, described the scene as resembling a movie.

“The robbers arrived in an ash-colored 2016 Toyota Corolla bearing Lagos license plates, creating an initial impression that they were policemen. However, it soon became apparent that they were hooded armed robbers.

“They shouted at the victim in a metallic green Toyota Corolla 2006 model. He was trailed from FCMB in Murtala. They were asking him for the money after he was ambushed right on the road,” the eyewitness recounted.

Another resident, whose office was adjacent to the robbery scene, stated that the victim appeared helpless as the robbers pointed their guns at him and made off with a bag containing a substantial sum of money.

Astonishingly, no vehicles passed during the operation, and even a passing police officer quickly fled the scene.

As of the time this story was filed, the Kwara state police command had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
