12-Year-Old Hawker Injured In Yobe Explosion
The victim is receiving treatment for their injury at a hospital.
Damaturu, Yobe State– A 12-year-old hawker reportedly suffered a leg fracture when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), planted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, detonated at the Buni Yadi Cattle Market in Yobe on Friday.
It was gathered that the IED was targeted at vigilante members.
Capt. Mohammed Shehu, spokesperson for Sector II of the Joint Task Force in the North-East Operation “Hadin Kai,” confirmed that the IED was planted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
Shehu added that the IED planted at the market unfortunately detonated, injuring a young vendor who was selling sachet water.
Meanwhile, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesperson for the state Police Command, confirmed that the 12-year-old victim sustained a leg fracture due to the explosion.
The spokesperson stated that the victim is receiving treatment for their injury at a hospital.
He, however, called on the public to always report suspicious individuals or objects to security agents for action.
