Yinka Aluko, IGP ‘Egbetokun’ Collaborate To Address Security Challenges

In a significant and collaborative effort to tackle the pressing security concerns facing Nigeria, the federal lawmaker representing Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency, Hon Ahmed Yinka Aluko, PhD, met with Mr Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), at his office in Abuja, on Thursday.
Mr Egbetokun, who previously served as the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, was acknowledged by Hon Ahmed Yinka Aluko for his remarkable dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of the state during his tenure.
According to the lawmaker, the discussion covered a range of security challenges affecting the nation, with a specific focus on the escalating incidents of kidnapping and banditry.
A substantial portion of their deliberations centred on addressing the unique security concerns within Kwara State, notably spotlighting the Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency.
Mr Aluko mentioned that the region has witnessed a concerning surge in kidnapping incidents, particularly along the boundary between Ilorin South (Fufu) and Ifelodun Local Governments.
During the meeting, Hon Ahmed Yinka Aluko explained the vital importance of strengthening the security workforce in Kwara State and offered commendations for the dedication and professionalism displayed by the Kwara State Police Command.
In response to these discussions, IGP Egbetokun expressed his gratitude for the visit, recognizing it as a service not only to the Federal Constituency but to the entire nation.
He stated the critical necessity for sustained collaboration among all leaders to effectively combat the various forms of crime prevalent in the country.
Egbetokun, however, assured Hon Ahmed Yinka Aluko that their conversations would undergo a thorough review, with the requests presented being carefully considered for swift action.
Furthermore, the Inspector General of Police acknowledged the unwavering commitment and collaborative efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON) in safeguarding the lives and property of the people of Kwara State.
