Yahaya Bello Released From Kuje Custodial Centre After Meeting Bail Conditions

Abuja, Nigeria  – The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has been released from the Kuje Custodial Centre after meeting the bail conditions set by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), FCT Command, Adamu Duza, confirmed Bello’s release on Friday evening.

Punch reports that the Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has been released from the Kuje Custodial Centre after fulfilling the bail conditions set by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

Confirming the development, an official stated, “Yahaya Bello has been released after meeting the bail conditions. He was released this evening (Friday).”

The Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) for the FCT, Ajibogun Olatubosun, was present to oversee the process and ensure all protocols were properly observed, said NCoS spokesperson Chukwuedo Duza.

Justice Maryann Anenih, ruling on Thursday, approved the bail application on the condition that Bello provides three sureties in like sum, who must be responsible citizens with landed properties in prime areas of the FCT, including Guzape, Wuse 2, Apo, Asokoro, and Jabi.

The judge explained that the sureties are also required to submit two passport photographs each and provide valid means of identification, including their National Identification Number (NIN).
