Wike Vows To Protect PDP Structure In Rivers State, Warns Against External Interference

I pity those governors. I will cause chaos in their states. If you have enjoyed peace and choose to disrupt mine

Jalingo, Taraba State– The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed not to allow any individual or group to take control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Rivers State.

Wike, who previously served as the Governor of Rivers State, issued a stern warning to his party members, particularly targeting PDP governors who might attempt to interfere in the party’s affairs within the South-South state.

The PDP governors, who met in Taraba State on August 23, addressed the ongoing crisis within the party in Rivers State and reaffirmed their support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The PDP Governors’ Forum, through a communiqué delivered by its Chairman and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, called for a review of the party congress results to restore Fubara’s leadership role.

During the state congress held at the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State’s capital, former Governor Nyesom Wike urged PDP governors to stay out of the party’s internal affairs in Rivers. Wike stated, “Let me assure you, no one will take the PDP structure from us as long as we are alive. I hear some governors talking about taking over the structure to hand it over to someone else.”

Wike warned, “I pity those governors. I will cause chaos in their states. If you have enjoyed peace and choose to disrupt mine, be ready for the consequences. I know some of you have received money from a signature bonus, and it’s making you overconfident about meddling in my state. Be prepared because I can retaliate in your states as well.”

He further added, “Whether you are from Bauchi or any other state, if you interfere in Rivers State, you will face the consequences and find no rest in your own state.”

The PDP crisis in Rivers has escalated following a fallout between Wike and his successor, who was absent from the congress. The event was attended by the minister, several current and former lawmakers at both federal and state levels, former local government chairmen, and other party members.
