2027 Is War: Ambassador-Designate Florence Ajimobi Vows Fierce Battle To Dislodge PDP In Oyo
Ajimobi, a leading figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, made the remarks in a viral video circulating widely on social media.
Ibadan, Oyo State– Florence Ajimobi, Nigeria’s ambassador-designate and widow of former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has declared that the 2027 general elections in Oyo State will be a “war,” insisting that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “must go.”
Ajimobi, a leading figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, made the remarks in a viral video circulating widely on social media.
She was seen addressing journalists and party supporters at a political gathering, where she spoke with unusual bluntness about her party’s resolve to reclaim power in Oyo State after losing the governorship to the PDP in 2019.
“We’re going to war in 2027. It’s going to be a head-on war. PDP must go,” Ajimobi said in the video. “Whatever they want to do, whatever tricks they want to try, all power belongs to God, but we are going to beg God and we are going to fight them.”
Her comments come amid growing political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, even as Nigerians continue to grapple with economic hardship, insecurity and governance challenges.
In Oyo State, political tensions have been quietly building, with both major parties positioning themselves for what is expected to be a highly competitive contest.
Ajimobi further claimed that the APC enjoys significant advantages at the federal level, which she said would neutralise whatever leverage the PDP currently holds within the state.
“They have money in the state, we have money at the federal level. We have all the support we need. We are not going to be intimidated,” she said. “So let them get ready for us. We are ready for them.”
The former First Lady of Oyo State also projected confidence that the APC would overcome internal divisions and present a united front in 2027, suggesting that the party has learned from past electoral setbacks in the state.
Florence Ajimobi is the widow of the late Abiola Ajimobi, who governed Oyo State from 2011 to 2019 under the APC and was the first governor in the state’s history to be re-elected for a second term.
Despite his political legacy, the APC suffered a crushing defeat in 2019, losing the governorship and most elective positions to the PDP, led by current Governor Seyi Makinde.
Since then, Oyo has remained a stronghold of the PDP, with Makinde consolidating power and winning re-election in 2023.
The APC, however, has repeatedly vowed to reclaim the state, accusing the PDP-led government of misgovernance and political exclusion.
