The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the Feb. 25 election, Peter Obi, says he won the 2023 presidential election and he will prove it to Nigerians in court.

Obi said this on Thursday in Abuja at an ongoing press conference – his first reaction since the election.

He accused the electoral authorities of predetermining the results of the election.

“The election has been conducted and results announced as programmed. It is an apparent deviation from the electoral rules and guidelines as we were promised. This election as you know did not meet the minimum standard expected of a free, transparent, credible and fair election. It would go down as one of the most controversial elections ever conducted in Nigeria.

“The good and hard-working people of Nigeria have again been robbed by their supposed leaders whom they trusted,” Obi said.

He, however, appealed for calm, saying “let me humbly appeal to Nigerians to remain peaceful, law-abiding and comport themselves in the most responsible manner. Please, be assured that Datti and I, and indeed all of us that this is not the end but the beginning of the journey for the birth of a new Nigeria.

“Datti and I remain undaunted and deeply committed to the project of a new Nigeria that will be built on honesty, transparency, fairness, justice and equity.”

Obi also said he believed in the judiciary to do justice, saying he was one of the biggest beneficiaries of the judiciary having been there severally to reclaim his stolen mandates in the past and won all.

He said he is confident that he has enough evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he won the presidential election.

The Labour Party candidate urged his supporters to remain calm and peaceful across Nigeria.

“Let me assure you that we will explore all legal and peaceful options to reclaim our mandate,” he vowed.
