Two Brothers Detained In VON Journalist’s Murder

Following his disappearance, the family received a text message demanding an initial payment of N1 million

Two siblings, Bilal Haruna and Mansur Haruna, are currently detained at the Tudun Wada Police Station in Gusau town, Zamfara State, for allegedly killing a Voice of Nigeria reporter, Hamisu Danjigba.

The accused suspects, Bilal and Mansur Haruna are the offspring of the late Malam Haruna, who happened to be Danjigba’s elder brother. Prior to the unfortunate incident, they had been residing in Danjigba’s residence within the Samaru area of Gusau.

Danjigba had repeatedly expressed concern about the disruptive behaviour of his nephews, the two suspects, before his disappearance on Saturday, September 16.

Following his disappearance, the family received a text message demanding an initial payment of N1 million, with the final ransom amount to be announced on Friday.

However, on Wednesday, September 20, Danjigba’s lifeless body was discovered abandoned in a drainage pit behind his home, displaying multiple injuries.

His nephews have been apprehended in connection with his murder, and an ongoing investigation is being conducted into the matter.

Hamisu Danjigba had a career spanning several media organizations, including Ayau Newspapers, Kunnen Gari, Voice of Nigeria, and Vision FM Nigeria. He leaves behind a grieving wife, children, and grandchildren.
