Troops Rescue Kidnap Victims, Arrest 8 Suspects In Kwara

Ilorin, Kwara State -Troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, operating under the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Patigi, Kwara State, have successfully rescued two kidnap victims and apprehended eight suspected kidnappers during a bold counter-kidnapping operation in Latandaji Village.

The operation, which occurred on Saturday, June 21, 2025, was based on credible intelligence and executed with tactical precision, according to a statement by Lieutenant Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations.

Despite encountering mild resistance, the troops swiftly overpowered the suspects using superior firepower.

The two victims, identified as Mr. Amos Moses and Mr. Philip Michael, were safely rescued from captivity.

One of the suspected kidnappers, Mr. Mohammed Mohammed, sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange and is currently receiving treatment at Bachita Teaching Hospital.

A search of the area led to the recovery of two motorcycles and two expended cartridges, believed to have been used by the criminal group.

Meanwhile, all eight arrested suspects are currently in military custody and will be handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and urged residents to continue providing timely and actionable intelligence to security forces.
