Tinubu Govt Secretly Transferring Nnamdi Kanu To Sokoto Prison — Sowore Alleges Plot To Silence IPOB Leader
They have already planned it. Their intention since yesterday was to move Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to a notorious prison in the northern parts where his safety cannot be guaranteed
Abuja, Nigeria– Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has confirned that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secretly transferred detained IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to a correctional facility in Sokoto State.
Sowore made this known on Friday, a day after Justice Mobolaji Omotosho of the Federal High Court reportedly convicted Kanu on seven counts and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
According to Sowore, the late-night transfer was part of a larger plan to isolate the IPOB leader and keep him in a location where his safety “cannot be guaranteed.”
“I can confirm he is already in Sokoto prison,” Sowore said.
Speaking on Friday, Sowore said:“Yes, they have already planned it. Their intention since yesterday was to move Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to a notorious prison in the northern parts where his safety cannot be guaranteed. I can confirm now that he’s already in Sokoto prison.”
He stated that federal authorities rejected the option of keeping Kanu at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja because they believed the facility would attract a constant stream of visitors and supporters.
“They openly said he would ‘become a king’ if taken to Kuje because, according to them, ‘Igbo people’ and his supporters would turn it into a place of pilgrimage,” Sowore stated.
“They want him isolated and vulnerable,” he said.
The activist further claimed that the government was intentionally keeping Kanu far from his support base to weaken public pressure and restrict access to him.
“That is why they are desperate to keep him far away, isolated, and vulnerable.
“It is also why they activated their cronies to start selling the illusion of renewed hope for MNK — a psychological tactic to keep the public calm while they execute their darkest agenda.”
Sowore alleged that the government’s long-term objective is to ensure that Kanu “dies in custody,” insisting that there is no political will within the administration to consider his release.
“His worst enemies are politicians from his region.”
Sowore accused them of sabotaging efforts to secure the IPOB leader’s freedom.
“I have said it before without fear: MNK’s greatest enemies are the politicians from his own region. They fear his influence, they fear his connection to the people, and they want him silenced permanently.
“This is why they fought tooth and nail to frustrate our #FreeNnamdiKanuNOW protest.”
He warned supporters not to ignore the unfolding developments, ending with his signature call:
“Do not say I didn’t warn you.”
