Kaduna State– Terrorists attacked Kushe Gugdu village in the Kagarko Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna in the early hours of Monday, abducting a Catholic priest and several community members, while leaving one person dead, local authorities and church officials confirmed.
The Kaduna Catholic Archdiocese stated that the assailants targeted St. Stephen Parish, forcibly taking the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal, from his residence.
In a notice circulated to priests, the Archdiocese’s Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Christian Okewu Emmanuel, described the harrowing incident.
“I write to inform you of the attack on Kushe Gugdu and the abduction of one of our priests, Rev. Fr. Bobo Pascal, Parish Priest of St Stephen Parish… from his residence during the early hours of today, Monday, 17th of November, 2025,” the notice read.
The Archdiocese further confirmed that multiple other community members were abducted during the attack, and one casualty was recorded—the brother of Rev. Fr. Anthony Yero.
“We call on all men and women of goodwill to join us in praying for their safety and quick release from the hands of their abductors, and for the peaceful repose of the dead. Amen,” the statement added.
The attack comes amid a series of violent incidents in Southern Kaduna, a region that has repeatedly suffered from kidnappings and communal violence in recent years.
