Suspected Kidnappers Kill DPO, Injure Another During Rescue Operation In Delta

Asaba, Delta State- Suspected kidnappers have killed a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) attached to the Agbarho police division in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, October 14, during a rescue operation targeting victims of kidnapping.
Confirming the incident, SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, reported that the assailants ambushed the two DPOs while they were on the operation around 1 AM.
“In the attack, the DPO from the Agbarho division lost his life, while the DPO of the Ororoekpe Division was shot and has since been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The police command has condemned the attack and is intensifying efforts to apprehend the culprits.
“During the exchange of gunfire, the new DPO and several officers lost their lives, while the Orerokpe DPO narrowly escaped death and was quickly taken to an undisclosed hospital, where doctors are currently fighting to save his life.
He added that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
