Seven killed, 21 injured In Kwara Road Accident

At least seven people were feared dead while 21 others were in critical conditions in a lone accident at the Otte end of the Ilorin-Ogbomoso Road, Asa Local Government Area, Kwara State.

The accident, which involved a white Mazda bus with the number plate, ZUR 159 XJ, occurred around 3.30 am on Sunday.

The Federal Road Safety Corps explained that the crash was a result of speeding, overloading, and burst tyre.

Seven people, including three male adults, two female adults and two female children, however, died in the accident; 21 others were injured.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Kwara State, Jonathan Owoade, said the commercial vehicle was overloaded with passengers, adding that it might have resulted in the burst tyre.

“The Kwara State Ministry of Health gave us an ambulance to support ours to take the victims to a hospital,” he added.

Mr Owoade said 14 big bags were recovered from the scene of the accident and the bus, was handed over to the traffic division of the Nigeria Police Force.

He, however, warned drivers to obey the speed limit, avoid speeding and desist from overloading.
