Senator Rafiu Ibrahim Dies At 58

He was chairman of the senate committee on banking.

Ilorin, Kwara State– Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, a former lawmaker, representing Kwara South senatorial district in the Red Chamber is dead.

Born on December 12, 1966, Senator Ibrahim served as a distinguished senator represented Kwara South Senatorial District between 2015 and 2019.

The kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq moruned the death of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim of the Peoples Democratic Party after a brief illness.

In a statement released on Wednesdays,  April 17, 2024, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, stated that the  Governor sends his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late senator, the people of Ojoku in Oyun Local Government Area, and the Peoples Democratic Party on this sad development.

According to the statement; “This shocking development again reminds everyone of the inevitability of death for all human beings and the fact that it could come unannounced for anyone, according to the Governor.

“Governor AbdulRazaq prays to Allaah to admit the senator to al-Jannah Firdaus and give comfort to his family members, political associates, and followers,” he said.

Senator Radiu was also a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly For Oke-Ogun Constituency before he was elected into the Nigerian Green Chamber to represent Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.

He was chairman of the senate committee on banking, insurance and other financial institutions in the 8th national assembly, and lost his bid to retain the Kwara south seat in the 2019 and 2023 elections.
